How to shape the neckline?

I think the title is clear about which part I'm stuck. There are tons of patterns online with explanations, but I can't seem to figure them out. Can anyone simplify things for me or give me a pattern that's beginner friendly?

For a super beginner-friendly approach, I'd recommend trying a simple scoop neck.
I don't have the specific pattern but this one is more like a on-the-body method.
When your main pieces are joined at the shoulders, put the garment on and use pins to mark out the curve you want for your neckline.
Make sure it's even on both sides.
Then take it off, lay it flat, and then use a contrasting yarn or even a pencil to draw a smooth line connecting those markers
Now, you can carefully pick up stitches along that line and knit your neckband.
I think it's much easier to visualize the shape when you're wearing it!
I hope this helps!

I don't have a specific pattern in mind but I recommend looking for video tutorials like GoodKnit Kisses on YouTube. She breaks down techniques really well, and I recall her having excellent tutorials on various shaping methods, including necklines, that might finally click for you!

Totally get it, necklines can be tricky at first. A simple way to shape one is by binding off a few stitches in the center and then decreasing at the edges every other row. Try looking for top-down raglan sweater patterns, they're great for beginners and usually explain shaping step by step. Happy knitting!

Oh my, this is an absolute gold mine. Thank you very much for this, now I have a lot of videos I'll need to go through.
