Does beanies use up so much yarns?

Because I was knitting my frst beanie on circular needles. but I'm only halfway through the pattern and almost out. It has cables, so I'm guessing that might be why? I'm new to knitting and this is my first project so I'm not really sure. Thanks everyone!

Hey, the cabling on your first beanie sounds great! Just so you know, cables tend to make the fabric denser, so they use more yarn than you'd think. That could be why you're running out.

Do you know how many yards the yarn had to begin with, and what yarn weight it is? You might just need another skein to finish.

Yeah definitely, cables eat up more yarn than plain stitches, so it's not just you. For a first project, that's a pretty ambitious choice. Brave and I admire you for that.

check how much you have left versus the pattern's total. Sometimes a slightly longer rib or brim adjustment can help stretch your yarn a bit actually
