Best way to stripe colors

Working on my first striped sweater and could use a little advice from anyone who's been down this road before, I'm loving how my colors are coming together, but now that I'm a few stripes in, I need to know if I'm supposed to break the yarn every time I change colors? some of the tutorials I've seen suggest carrying the yarn up the side, but that looks a little messy to me and I'm not sure how well it'll block out but on the other hand, breaking the yarn every few rows feels like it's going to leave me with a mountain of ends to weave in, and that part is already giving me anxiety.
This is a top down pullover in worsted weight, and the stripes are around 4 to 6 rows thick. I'd love to hear how others handle this, any tips or something or a plain advice on what to do

That's a great question, I've worked on a few sweaters just like that. When I'm doing 4 to 6-row stripes, I typically carry the yarn up the side and twist it every few rows to keep everything looking neat. As long as you're careful not to pull too tight, it should block out nicely. Cutting the yarn every time can leave you with a ton of ends to weave in, which can be a real pain. How do your edges look so far? Are they looking neat, or are they starting to get a bit bulky?

If your stripes are about 4-6 rows, you can try carry the yarn up the side and give it a little twist to keep things neat. If you had to break time yarn every time, that would drive you nuts with all those ends, trust me...
