wrap sweater situation

I really want to make a precision wrap sweater for myself and got a little stitchuation!
The left front is on point at 8 ½", but the back is about three quarters of an inch off because I got a little carried away with the knitting.
Now, I wonder if I have to rip it back on the back, or if blocking will save the day for seaming.

TIA

Blocking might save you if your yarn is stretchy and has good memory. Anyway 3/4" is an ok difference. Seaming could look off! For long term, it's better to rip back the back piece just to match the front. The cleaner the better after all.

Blocking can work wonders, but it depends on the fiber. If your yarn has good elasticity, you may be able to stretch the back to match the front, although the seam could still appear uneven. If precision is the goal, ripping back and reknitting will give the best result. No one loves frogging a project, but it's better to fix it now than regret it later. What kind of yarn are you using?

There was this one time when I was knitting a scarf, and after a marathon movie session, I noticed one end was almost an inch wider than the other. I gave blocking a shot, but it still didn't look quite right. In the end, I decided to rip it all back, grumbling about it the whole way, but I'm really glad I did. A clean finish is definitely worth the effort

Totally been there! It really depends on the yarn sometimes blocking can help even things out, especially if it's a fiber that relaxes well. If it's wool or something with a bit of give, you might be fine. I've worked with cashmere before and it surprised me how much it can stretch during blocking, so fingers crossed yours behaves similarly! Either way, your wrap sweater sounds like it's going to be gorgeous.
